Well there’s a lot more to Sweden than Volvo, IKEA and Abba, (and lets not forget Swedish Meatballs) there’s a great range of Swedish beer to try too. Beer in Sweden can be traced back to the Viking period; you can just see the scene now with those feisty huge guys with horned hats downing a few beers. One of our favorites is Spendrups Bryggeri AB and we have even been able to buy it at our local IKEA- I kid you not! Spendrups dates back to 1897 and they are Sweden’s largest brewery, employing over 1100 staff spread over three breweries in the cities of Grängesberg, Vårby and Visby. Our favorite product is the Christmas Beer; look out for it at your local imported beer store over the next few months, you might be lucky enough to get a can or two. It has a very fruity taste and aroma with added spices and herbs to give it that festive flavor.
