With the our story on the birthday of the can yesterday and Australia Day on the 26th of this month we thought today’s story should be on one of the Aussies best beer attractions. Located just outside the Murray River town of Echuca on the border of Victoria and New South Wales lies the Great Aussie Beer Shed. The beer shed is said to be the only one of its kind in Australia and would have one of the biggest collections of beer cans and beer paraphernalia in the world, it is quiet amazing. There are over 16000 beer cans all different and growing in numbers- quiet a sight. They come from the four corners of the globe and some are very unique and historic. The museum is operated by Neil Thomas and his family started collecting cans about 30 years ago as a bit of a hobby but now is one of the worlds greatest beer collections, the 5000 square foot shed has huge display cases with cans and many other historic beer related items including old signs, bar equipment and the like. One of Neil’s most precious items is what is believed to be the worlds rarest beer can it was mad for the Coronation of King George the VI in England back in 1937. The Great Aussie Beer Shed is a great Australian Icon and should not be missed by anyone visiting Australia and interesting in beer.
