Today we feature what is not a beer story but more a ice cream story. There was some weird news out of Australia this week when Bubble O Bill the popular kids icecream by Streets was accused of getting a repeat drink driver into a bit of hot water. Well some repeat drink drivers in the state of Victoria are forced to use a machine attachment to their car which checks their blood alcohol via a breath test before the car will start. In a weird twist of events a driver was licence that demanded he was 0.0% alcohol and he went to start his car, and the alcohol measuring device recorded alcohol in his system. Before long the guy was pulled before the magistrate to explain and possibly be punished for attempting to drive. He made the claim that he hadnt had anything to drink, but had had a Bubble O Bill icecream. The magistrate didn’t believe the mans claims as he was a repeat offender and ordered a court member to go down to the local ice cream shop and buy a Bubble O Bill. The man was given a breath test and blew 0.0% then he ate the tasty ice treat in the court and he was given a another breath test to prove the tasty Bubble O Bill can’t hurt you. Well the test failed and he blew a small but positive reading of 0.018- similar to the one the car registered. So the Bubble O Bill was found guilty. Now this should serve as a message to all- not only beer, spirits and other alcoholic items contain alcohol- many other foods do to including some tooth pastes and a lot of confectionery. People who are on 0.0% restrictions should wait 15 minutes before driving- or they could find some embarrassment in front of the law if tested.
