We did a story back in May 2008 about Red Duck Beer. http://www.hoppsy.com/australia/red-duck-handcrafted-beers/ Red Duck is a small microbrewery from Purrumbete which is in the Western District of Victoria Australia. Since our story the brewery has grown from strength to strength and has even opened a beer tasting room in the nearby township of Camperdown. The beer is all hand crafted and only natural ingredients are used. We were re-introduced to Red Duck at a Food and Wine Festival in Lara, about ¾ of an hour south west of Melbourne Australia. Red Duck had some amazing new beers which absolutely blew us away including a the American style Pale Ride an amazing Strong Bitter English style pub ale called Burton but the favourite and one of the most unique beers we have ever tasted was called White Garden. This beer was a classic whit beer which contained a little raspberry and believe it or not rhubarb. The beer was absolutely delicious. Sadly the 4.1% beer is only a limited release but it was amazing. In fact we bought our self a Quack Pack of it and enjoyed it when we got home.

A tasty Russian Wheat Beer
With most of the information in Russian this beer was a little and to research but we found that Baltika is part of the Carlsberg group of companies and began production in 1990. The beer originates from St Petersburg and is the leader in the Russian beer market owning around 40% of sales. They now have 11 breweries and brew 5.2 million hectolitres- which sounds a hell of a lot every month. They say that the Baltika brand is one of the top three most valuable brands in Russia and the biggest selling beer in sales term in Europe- which is pretty impressive. They export to over 70 countries. We have tasted quite a few of the Baltika beers, including the Classic, The Porter and the Pale Ale. The one we have photographed is the Wheat Beer No 8 had a thick dense foam, soft fruit aroma with spicy tinges and light sweetness. They started brewing this beer in 2001 and have won several prestigious Beer awards with it. The beer has a 5% alcohol volume and original wort gravity of 12.5%. Well worth looking out for when you want to try something different, it is a very nice beer.
You will be over the moon with this beer
The huge Molson Coors Brewing Company has a very tasty boutique brand available in North America called Blue Moon. They produce a Belgian stle white beer which has a distinct orange flavour, in fact many pubs serve this beer with a slice of orange, just as they do the lime and lemon with Corona. This wheat beer is a milky orange colour and is not filtered, it is spiced with both orange peel and the traditional coriander and hops. The beer is usually sold with a 5.5% alcohol vol although in some US states it is a little lower. The brewery even makes a few specialty beers during the year including a very tasty Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale which usually hits the shelves just in time for Halloween each year. You might think Yuk! Pumpkin, but trust us it is lovely and much nicer than it sounds.
