
Anchor Steam Christmas Ale
Back in 1975 the Anchor Steam Brewery in San Francisco produced their first Christmas Ale, Thirty four years later the 2008 Christmas Ale follows the fine tradition and is now available for the festive season. Every year the secret recipe changes bringing Christmas Joy between November and mid January. The beer is available in 12 ounce bottles, magnums and even on draught at selected pubs throughout the USA. The beer has become so sought after many people collect the beers from season to season. Each year the label features a different tree which symbolizes the winter solstice which is only a few weeks away in the Northern Hemisphere.

Feel like a drink and can’t decide between a nice cold beer or a bourbon, well Winter’s Bourbon Cask ale might just be the thing you are looking for. This special seasonal beer is available over the December – January period in the USA and features a dark roasted rich beer which ahs been seasoned in bourbon soaked oak barrels with a touch of real Madagascar vanilla. The beer is brewed with Hallertau and Alsace hops and two row barley malts, producing a full flavored tasty beer. It goes great with the rich foods of the festive season like roasts, chocolate deserts, cheeses, chowders and puddings. Look out for it in December; it might be the perfect beer to have on your Christmas table.

With the weather starting to get better in the Northern Hemisphere we thought a summer ale would make a good beer for today and why not from Alaska. Today’s beer is the Alaskan Summer Ale which is a Kolsche style beer a bit like what you would be drinking if you were in Cologne Germany. It’s a soft malted beer with a fresh hops taste and a lovely straw gold color. Very easy to drink and the perfect drop for a nice summers day. The beer was first brewed in 1997 and is brewed on a limited release over the summer period, made with the freshest of glacier fed water which comes from the Juneau Ice Field, and using both European and Pacific Nortwest Hops, plus two row and specialty hops. Look for the lovely orange packaging and the Killer Whale on the label, it wont be hard to miss in your bottleshop.

With Halloween only a month away have we got the perfect beer for you. Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale. This beer was first introduced in 2005 and is a tasty malty ale which has been brewed with golden delicious pumpkins and some fancy herbs and spices like ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. It might sound a bit weird but believe me it taste amazing. Brewed by the A Bush Michelob Brewing Company this beer has just won silver at the North American Beer Awards Herbed Spiced Beer Category. Like many boutique beers to get the best flavor out of it, the glass you are drinking from matters- for a truly special experience drink the Pumpkin Spice Ale in a tall fluted glass, a bit like you would drink champagne, it really brings out a special taste and aroma.
