A Fursty Ferret
By wattsy | February 15, 2008
Hall and Woodhouse are a brewery from Dorset in the UK and date back to 1777 and one of their more interesting products is the Fursty Ferret. Ledged tells it that local ferrets were often found sneaking in the back door of the local inn owned by Miss Rose Gribble to sample the tasty beer. So to celebrate Hall and Woodhouse produced the Fursty Ferret in 1980 and now is one of their most popular brands, for people and the odd weasel like creature. The brewery also makes a range of badger beers, we are not sure what the story is there but maybe badgers like a drop or two of the golden stuff too? Hall and Woodhouse also have the license to brew HB beers for the UK, using the traditional Munich recipes. The Fursty Ferret was originally a seasonable beer produced in autumn but now it is available all year round in 4.4% 500ml clear glass bottles. You cant miss the lovely ferrets on the label. A pink pussy to match your beer
By Rocky | February 8, 2008
We are not 100% sure if this stuff is beer, but the ad is too good to not use it. It’s another amazing ad from Japan. It looks as if their beer called ‘Be’ is available in different colors, there’s pink, green and blue so what better to advertise it than three kittens dyed the same colour playing a piano. The advertising people in Japan must have been on on some interesting drugs when coming up with this one. Bolt yourself to your chair (as you will fall off laughing) and enjoy.

Arrrrrr! Beer Thief!
By Rocky | January 28, 2008
There’s nothing worse than having your beer stolen, then again its only Bud Light. Today’s You Tube is quiet a funny one and you don’t know who gets the most traumatic experience the girl or the guy. Probably the guy. Bud Light has had some great commercials and with the Superbowl only days away you can bet they will have a cracker lined up, hopefully we will be able to feature it soon. Bud Light was only launched back in 1982 and has become America’s favorite beer; to keep up with demand it is brewed at all of Anheuser-Busch’s 12 breweries in the USA. The beer is called light because of its low carbohydrates, it is a full strength beer (in American Terms) with 4.2% alcohol volume, and is brewed using all natural ingredients, just water, barley, malt, hops, rice and of course yeast.

Australians wouldn’t giva a XXXX for anything
By Rocky | January 27, 2008
This is surely one of the worst corny ads I have ever seen. Its for Queensland’s Castlemaine XXXX beer for the UK market. It uses some really bad Australian Stereotyping. You are expecting a crocodile or a dingo to come out and eat here, but sadly not the case. Anyway XXXX is Queensland’s most popular drop, and quiet popular in the northern states of the country and making great inroads into the UK giving good old Fosters a run for it’s money as Australia’s beer. The beer is no where as bad as this ad- Take a look, you are sure to cringe- I am sure it’s set back Australian Culture 20 years, we are going to need Sir Les Patterson our Cultural Ambassador to do some good work to show we Aussies have much more style and sophistication than this.

If the mrs dosen’t kill you the kebab might
By Rocky | January 26, 2008
VB the true Australian Beer has put out some fantastic advertisements over the year, the recent VB Symphony is a great example. But a few years back they put out a few based on the classic Victoria Bitter ad… ‘matter of fact I’ve got it now’ This one features a big night out on the town with the boys and the classic Aussie nightcap the Kebab- the roasted rotisserie lamb and salad wrapped in a Turkish Bread all smothered in garlic sauce— Mater of fact I could go one now! A perfect way to celebrate Australia Day!
If you have any great nightcap treats, like a kebab, a pizza, a pie floater or hot dog or something even more special drop us a comment http://www.hoppsy.com/send-us-a-tip/

Arrrh Fosters Lager- its got the flavor
By Rocky | January 24, 2008
I think we have mentioned before on Hoppsy, everyone outside Australia thinks Fosters when we they think of Australian Beer, unlike the Aussies who really don’t care for the stuff. Fosters is the most successful Australian beer brand all around the world being sold just about everywhere. Today it is brewed in several countries Australia, and is a huge seller expecially in the UK. We found this great Hong Kong Fosters ad which dates back to the early 1980’s which is a beauty and well worth a look, maybe enjoy watching it with a refreshing Fosters to celebrate our Australia Day week of beers.

The best cold beer is Vic, Vic Bitter
By Rocky | January 23, 2008
Well plenty of people would disagree, but half of Australia think the best cold beer is Vic, Victoria Bitter. VB is Australia’s biggest selling draft beer and is available in just about every pub in the continent. Brewed by Carlton and United Breweries now known as The Fosters Group the beer has a reputation of being a beer for everyone especially the Aussie worker. Originating from Melbourne it was really Melbourne Bitter and Carlton Draft which were the beer drinkers choice, but after great advertising like this old You Tube ad, and marketing into new areas, VB has become the Australian favorite. Well a hard earned thirst needs a big cold beer…you know the rest.

The voodoo made me do it
By Rocky | January 11, 2008
We found this amusing little ad on You Tube for Brahma Beer from Brazil. It looks like the guy wasn’t meant to be out drinking so the girlfriend thought she would make his life a bit tough with the voodoo doll, well it sort of back fired or at least put out the fire. You should get a laugh. Brahma Beer is starting to make some inroads around the world and is now found in quiet a few countries. The beer dates back to 1888 when it was first brewed by a guy called Joseph Villager and is the most popular cerveja in Brazil, with 4.8% alcohol and a fresh refreshing taste the beer is hard to beat. Look for its interesting curvy bottle when next at the bar.

At last Feng Shui makes perfect sense
By Rocky | January 7, 2008
I have never really understood the way of Feng Shui until now, probably because I am Australian and this ad made perfect sense, lets face it all you need in your house is a TV for the footy and cricket, a comfy couch, a toilet close by and a fridge full of beer. I remember Homer Simpson was even intelligent enough to come up with that one years ago- although I think he added some pork rind to the mix (must be the American Touch ? ). Anyway this is a ad for the Australian beer everyone drinks except Australians- Fosters Lager, the world is missing out on so many great Carlton and United beers! - enjoy.

Holston Pils Beer Robot
By Rocky | January 3, 2008
Well I am sure you have noticed we like featuring beer robots a bit on Hoppsy, well we found another one. This time it’s a clever ad for Holston Pils. The robot is a clever little fella, not only can he answer any question about Hamburg’s finest pils he also has a fridge in his tummy full of the fresh frothy brew. I want one!
