make mine a crownie
By Rocky | November 2, 2007

Crown Larger is Australia’s leading premium beer, and has been well before the new range of designer beer had hit the market. It well outsells any other premium beer on the market in Australia. Many think this beer was first in 1953 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s first visit to Australia, well that is not entirely right. The beer was brewed occasionally for special visits and VIP’s like diplomats, then in 1953 it was released to the public.
This beer is produced using the process of extended largering which gives it its rich smooth clean taste. Its iconic elegant bottle and golden capped label make this beer stand out from the crowd. This 4.0% strength beer is readily available in 375 ml bottled form only and is seen at just about every special occasion.

Nothing’s as cold as a Coldie
By Rocky | October 26, 2007

Carlton Cold was one of the first of the new wave of beers which have landed on the market in the last 15 years
It was one of the most innovative and successful brand launches of the early 90s. It remains the beer of choice for young adult drinkers. The taste is smooth, crisp and fresh, but beyond taste the brand’s appeal is driven by its attitude and innovative approach – it was the first to be cold-filtered, the first to be packaged in clear glass. This beer was also the first Australian beer to try plastic bottles, They were used for special out door events or at seaside resorts over summer, they didn’t really catch the imagination of the drinking public and become more a novelty item.
Carlton Cold has also been an experiment to other spin offs in recent years including a Carlton Cold with a packaged vodka shot included.
