This is one of the best beer ads we have seen for a while. Its advertising the beautiful Boags Draught from Tasmania Australia. Tasmania has some of the most pristine waters and wilderness in the world, im not sure this hole is one of them though, and im pretty sure its not the one they use to make their beautiful crystal clear beers, we believe it was shot near Norfolk to the west of Devonport. Sit back and enjoy, the soundtrack is pretty cool to it is sung by a guy called Elliot Wheeler. Look out for the giant teddy bear on the car roof. Read the rest of this entry »

A brief history of the American beer industry
We found this great short video on youtube that describes the history of beer brewing in America. The video is far more interesting than some of the watery brews put out by America’s big two brewers, and also highlights that there are some good brews in the US thanks to the rise of the many micro breweries making inroads to the US market. We also agree with what the guy suggests at the end of the vid, go out taste, experience and live beer. Read the rest of this entry »

Guiness goes a bit erotic
We found this suggestive little ad for the tasty and creamy Irish masterpiece Guiness and thought it was worth a story. The advertising guys are pushing a few boundaries with this clever ad. Hope you like it- drop us a line and tell us what you think. Well i’m sold- off to the fridge for another one!
The miracle beer diet.
With every diet there’s a few catches and I don’t beer is really the permanent weight loss solution we should be looking at. But it seems to have worked for this lovely lady. Perhaps we should stay off the pies, pizzas and other delicious bar snacks while we are drinking this tasty amber liquid- but they are just so tasty. I feel so guilty eating this bowl of nuts with my pint… oh-well they a few more and they will be all gone. ….better think about going back to the bar!
Bubble O Bill – or Bubble Oh Blow
Today we feature what is not a beer story but more a ice cream story. There was some weird news out of Australia this week when Bubble O Bill the popular kids icecream by Streets was accused of getting a repeat drink driver into a bit of hot water. Well some repeat drink drivers in the state of Victoria are forced to use a machine attachment to their car which checks their blood alcohol via a breath test before the car will start. In a weird twist of events a driver was licence that demanded he was 0.0% alcohol and he went to start his car, and the alcohol measuring device recorded alcohol in his system. Before long the guy was pulled before the magistrate to explain and possibly be punished for attempting to drive. He made the claim that he hadnt had anything to drink, but had had a Bubble O Bill icecream. The magistrate didn’t believe the mans claims as he was a repeat offender and ordered a court member to go down to the local ice cream shop and buy a Bubble O Bill. The man was given a breath test and blew 0.0% then he ate the tasty ice treat in the court and he was given a another breath test to prove the tasty Bubble O Bill can’t hurt you. Well the test failed and he blew a small but positive reading of 0.018- similar to the one the car registered. So the Bubble O Bill was found guilty. Now this should serve as a message to all- not only beer, spirits and other alcoholic items contain alcohol- many other foods do to including some tooth pastes and a lot of confectionery. People who are on 0.0% restrictions should wait 15 minutes before driving- or they could find some embarrassment in front of the law if tested.
The Great Aussie Beer Shed
With the our story on the birthday of the can yesterday and Australia Day on the 26th of this month we thought today’s story should be on one of the Aussies best beer attractions. Located just outside the Murray River town of Echuca on the border of Victoria and New South Wales lies the Great Aussie Beer Shed. The beer shed is said to be the only one of its kind in Australia and would have one of the biggest collections of beer cans and beer paraphernalia in the world, it is quiet amazing. There are over 16000 beer cans all different and growing in numbers- quiet a sight. They come from the four corners of the globe and some are very unique and historic. The museum is operated by Neil Thomas and his family started collecting cans about 30 years ago as a bit of a hobby but now is one of the worlds greatest beer collections, the 5000 square foot shed has huge display cases with cans and many other historic beer related items including old signs, bar equipment and the like. One of Neil’s most precious items is what is believed to be the worlds rarest beer can it was mad for the Coronation of King George the VI in England back in 1937. The Great Aussie Beer Shed is a great Australian Icon and should not be missed by anyone visiting Australia and interesting in beer.
Christmas Beer for the Kiddies- only in Japan

The beverage looks and tastes like beer but there is no alcohol is actually a apple soda based drink- but kids seem to love it. And there’s even a pink label for the girls and a blue one for the boys- how cool is that. Check out the video its a lot of fun and there’s a pretty cute snowman in there too! For a real laugh check out their great website- http://www.sangaria.co.jp it’s written in Japanese but you will easily get the idea and the music is just ‘great’. Kampai!
iphone + beer = too much spare time
We like a beer robot story here on hoppsy so we thought we’d show you a youtube of a guy who has connected his apple iphone to a robotic kit in order to pour a very frothy beer. It seems like a lot of work to get a badly served beer but I spose the dream of being served beer Jetson’s style has to start somewhere. Enjoy. Read the rest of this entry »
