Beer Icecream

Beer flavored ice-cream sounds like something only Homer Simpson would enjoy but it is turning up in some of the flashest restaurants around the world and is very delicious and is really easy to prepare at home. The ice-cream is more of a sorbet than a milk based ice-cream and is best made with a darker variety of beer, like a strong ale or even a stout. All you need to do is mix together 4 egg yolks, 125 ml of your favorite beer and 4 tablespoons of sugar. Stir them over low heat until the mixture rises making sure it doesn’t come to the boil. Once done, put in your serving bowl and freeze. It’s delicious served with fresh fruit or even chocolate.  Another idea is soak fresh fruit of your choice in the beer for 24 hours and then do the same recipe.

Over the next few weeks we will have some more recipes for you to try and even a couple of other beer ice-cream ones to try.
