Swan Lager

swan.gif

During the rise of Alan Bond in the early 1980′s Swan Larger made a big impact into the eastern states beer market, but since the empires collapse the Swan brand is now rarely seen outside Western Australia. Swan is now a Lion Nathan product and the no 1 tap beer in the West. This beer dates back to around 1857 and is a smooth and easy drinking beer, using Tasmanian Hops and Western Australia’s beautiful barley.

I was a combat engineer in viet nam in ’67/’68. I remember enjoying swan lager on those rare times of relaxation. I would love to find some because it was a good beer.

    Hi

I am looking for the recipe for a bread and olive oil dip which aussies eat when they have their beer. It is a dry mix of ground spices…. cumin, pepper, sesame seeds etc. It has a coarse . nutty texture. You dip a piece of bread in olive oil then into this spice and eat it. It is really good!

Please can anyone give me the recipe? Thanks

    Nani

GREAT beer, Swan. Back in 1979 I had an amazing number of those bought for me in a three day period on Cocos Island, off the coast of Indonesia, by a very friendly bunch of Aussies who appreciated my guitar and singing abilities. I would love to be able to get Swan in Arkansas. But, I am not holding my breath, waiting for it.

Bad news, everyone, they changed the place the beer is brewed, and the quality/taste/etc, I’m told, has dropped severely.

I want the original Swan Lager back that I had in Perth, Sydney etc. when I trained with the Aussie’s back in 1981 in the Marine Corps. The Marines that I served with want the original back!

You can get it in Colorado…I called and tried to get some shipped. I was told they ship here but only as far as Colorado and no further!! My husband was in the Marine Corp and was in Perth/Sydney in the early 80′s…you probably drank together!!
