The new bottleshop up the road from us has quiet a selection of boutique and international beers, so over the next few weeks you are likely to read some stories on some interesting beers and today’s is no exception. Today we are talking about Red Emperor which is delightful amber ale from the Fish Rock brewery which is located in the beautiful New South Wales southern highlands at Mittagong, one of the loveliest areas of Australia only a few hours drive south west of Sydney. The beer is one of two the brewery currently produce, the other has a fishy name too- the Leatherjacket which is a lager. The beers are made to the stringent Bavarian Purity law like with all good German beers, using Czech Saaz hops, barley, yeast and crystal clear artesian water from the region, all natural and best of all preservative free. The brewery has been in operation since 2005 and already picked up some prestigious awards including Australia’s best lager in 2006. Look out for the mermaid mofit next time you are looking for a tasty beer.
