New laws have recently been introduced into pubs and clubs in the eastern states of Australia which now forbids smoking inside the premises. Now it is hoped the pubs will have fresh beer flavoured air instead of the unhealthy smell of old cigarette smoke. Time will tell if this new regulation further erodes the local pub. Over recent years they have suffered quiet a few set backs with many forced to close. Introduction of gaming venues, noise regulations regarding band venues, necessary drink driving crack downs, new bars and clubs and of course the ever increasing beer prices have all taken their toll on the traditional pub. Hopefully banning the smoking will bring more people to the venues insearch of a quiet beer and no stale smoke air.
