Lucky Beer

lucky-beer.gif

We at Hoppsy reckon all beer is lucky but this one is Lucky by name also. Lucky Beer is brewed in Australia by award winning brewer Brian Watson at Australian Independent Brewers. The beer is a tasty Asian style larger which uses 100% natural ingredients to produce a premium quality beer. The beer is specially fermented at a much cooler temperature than normal beers which allows for a aromatic but mild Asian flavour with the usual light fizzy head you would expect from a Japanese or Chinese pilsner. The beer is only brewed in small quantities and can be a little difficult to find as it is very popular. But other than the great taste the best thing about this beer is the beautiful packaging- the beer features a beautiful Buddha shaped green bottle. It is quiet stunning and is fast becoming a collector’s piece and is a standout in any beer fridge, one bottle which won’t end up in the recycle bin!

I have an empty bottle–willing to sell.

how come the website now says it’s brewed in China??? What changed?

  • ' rel='nofollow wattsy

@ Simon: Outsourcing we guess, at least it can now claim to be an Asian beer rather than just “Asian Style” as was the previous case.

I got a case from Dan Murpheys well over a year ago…… I used on of the bottles to hide a hidden letter for my fiance when I proposed to her……. So we went looking for more. Dan Murpheys said they don’t stock it any more because their supply wasn’t regular enough. I haven’t been able to find it since. Even emailed the company that makes it. no love.

Saw it at Dan Murphy’s (Melbourne) on a couple of visits; ultimately went back and bought just one to try. Not only is the bottle really nice, but so is the beer. The back of the bottle says ‘IMPORTED BEER – PRODUCT OF CHINA.’ I like to try different beers, and I have tried a number of Asian beers that have all been nice; this one really surprised me though, as I wasn’t expecting it to taste as good as it did.

I guys, I stylised Lucky Beer from the start. We originally were making it in Rutherglen in Victoria, but had issues with the brewer on quality control after his master brewer left his business. We then made it with Australian Independent Brewers in Sydney with award winning brewer Brian Watson. But when Brian left there so did we and he started brewing our beer down in Mildura. However we always wanted to end up brewing the beer in China, so we went to Qing Tao city and we impressed with their set up, the brewery there is 30% owned by Kirin Breweries from Japan. So we spent time with their master brewers, one from China and one from Japan. So there we could get consistency and a better price.
