Australian Beer Wars

The battle for the biggest selling beer is on hard and fast in Australia. Victoria’s favorite beer VB or Victoria Bitter is going head to head with Lion Nathan’s New South Wales beer Toohey’s New. The battle lines were once state lines but over recent years the beers have jumped the border and are fighting a strong battle for market leadership over the country. VB is making the biggest impact, loosing little of its Victorian home market and making some good progress into Queensland and New South Wales. The battle is far from over with both Carlton & United and Tooheys introducing new mid strength and boutique products trying to further erode the oppositions market. Beer drinkers will be the winner, with some healthy competition and a good choice of products on taps in pubs everywhere.
