Cubanero Fuerte

Cubanero or Bucanero as it is know in some countries is brewed by the Bucanero Brewery in Holguin Cuba which is the country’s largest brewer, and also the maker of the Palma Cristal that we featured a few weeks back.  The brewery is jointly owned with Canada’s Labatts. Its a 5.4% lager style beer and is similar in taste to many of the central American beers.  With the American trade embargo the beer dosen’t have a very big export market although it is available in the UK under the Cubanero name plate. There was a trademark issue that prevents it from being sold as Bucanero there. In Havana they make a stronger variety called Bucanero Max which is also quiet popluar.
