Rheingold Beer was a beer from New York which held over a third of the state’s beer market during the 1950’s. The brand was huge, they had a Miss Rheingold Competition and put out some pretty cheesy television commercials like this one. Some of their ad’s were absolute classics, we will try and find more in coming weeks, the Marx Brothers and even cowboy John Wayne featured in some of them. The brand tried a bit of a relaunch in the late 1990’s but a few clever stunts and clever advertising never really hit the spot with the drinkers. Today the company is owned by Drinks America, they are believed to be plotting a plan to bring the brand back into fashion and once again be the drink of New York.
